Did you know that the VFA are constructing a new $7 million native fish hatchery in Shepparton called Arcadia by the end of 2022 to focus on species such as Murray cod and golden perch?

The team have just transferred 200,000 baby Murray cod into ponds. They join 600,000 little yellas already swimming around our nine other ponds at the hatchery.

These little guys will be part of our first-ever harvest at Arcadia later this summer.

When Arcadia is running at full steam, we’ll be growing up to 1.6 million native fish annually to stock into Victoria’s lakes and rivers to make your freshwater fishing even better!

The new hatchery is a critical component of the State Government’s $35m Go Fishing Victoria plan to get more people fishing more often.
